Artist History Since the release of the Internet Album "Dusk Till Dawn" Digital instrumentalist Chalwa, has been enjoying a lot of attention from Euro based Recording labels.UK based TechnoWire Records, has approached the artiste with an offer for street distribution in Europe, that could possibly propel the artiste into the Capital of the Electronica scene and establish CHALWA as Jamaica's first successful Techno Artist.US Based Grand Royale home label to the infamous Beastie Boys have shown interest also in the artist, and is currently in discussions with the Artiste local label, BlacFinga Records to whom the artiste has signed an exclusive five year, four album deal.Chalwa signed with underground label, BlacFinga Records in July of this year and has since released seven MP3.com TOP100 singles including one TOP 40 single, "Ebonics", which peaked at #28 on the HipHop Bass Charts.Born in Jamaica, Chalwa's musical influence was spurned from the dub sounds of Roots Reggae and the electronic beat of techno/rave music. Fusing the two sounds, enriched with deep ethnic drum sounds, Chalwa has emerged with a unique musical flavor that embraces the essence of worldbeat sounds and new age music, all heavily hinted with the sound of Reggae, Roots, and Dancehall.Chalwa began his musical Career in 1998 after a healthly stint at Anchor Recording Studios, where he was "schooled" under The musical genius of Dr. Marshall, the Incomparable Gussie Clarke, and Mikey, Jamaica's most recognized mixing/mastering engineer.After leaving the Anchor Camp, Chalwa hooked up with Comso Sounds, a New York Based label. Chalwa started a project album ,which never materialized due to creative differences between himself and the producer.Chalwa moved into 1999 with high hopes and big dreams, but the year proved to a rough one, so Chalwa headed to the US seeking bigger prospects. The journey was equally trying, but Chalwa kept his head up and eyes focused. In November 99, Chalwa returned home with a fresh single cut in the Home Studio of Garage artist Basement Jaxx. The single entitled "fire" sold 1000 copies in an almost non-existent local techno/rave circuit, and set the pace for the artiste.Circa 2000. After laying low, and hanging on the production end of the business, Chalwa felt the time was right for Techno/Rave music in Jamaica.After linking up with RiddimJamaica.com Chief Exec, Lloyd Laing, at the annual John Greaves fete held in Ocho Rios Jamaica. Laing, who at the time was providing A&R services for the fledging label BlacFinga Records, introduced the artiste to the Label Top Execs.After months of convincing, CHALWA was finally granted an album project. Under the guidance of Executive producer Thion, CHALWA churned out 22 singles, 10 of which have been placed on the album "Dusk Till Dawn".Now, with 2001, just around the corner.....Sky's the Limit.Chalwa...Sound Is Music
