Artist History
Started after the death of our friend Ingrid Skanchy, it ended on November 29, 2001 with the death of bassist/friend Will Platt.Johnny and Rob got together on St. Patrick's Day, 2000 and began writing and recording what is now "...maybe New Orleans".The other members were drawn by the early recordings and raw potential. It really had a momentum of its own.Rob Thompson(guitar, vocals) & Will Platt(bass) were long-time veterans of the Atlanta music scene(Ghost Story, BLSTRD, Tombstones, Threshold Of Pain).Johnny Roulette is a published poet(Holy Bull:hymns from an Ambien summer/Abandoned Wagon Press 1999) whose early forays into music(Family Smack Off, Heldorado) never made it past the garage. He is also the lead singer for The Transgressors(also on MP3.com) & Death Valley Strays.Though they started with no expectations, it didn't take long to discover that Rob's music and Johnny's words were a natural fit, forming a very special union. Rick Richards became interested after hearing "descenso", of which he said, "It sounds like the desert...". Drummer Idi Amin was replaced by Gary Stanton(Too Far Gone) in November of 2000.Guitarist/songwriter Mark Bishop(also of Death Valley Strays) joined at the beginning of 2001.The band called it a day following the death of Will Platt, who had been friends with Roulette and Bishop for more than a decade. Neither Roulette nor Bishop could playing these songs in this band without Platt. |
