Artist description
Dectalk is a speech software that was first used in reading machines for the blind, and is now used in most of the communication devices for people who can't talk. Snoopi, who has a speech impediment, learned how to program Dectalk to sing. Taking each individual sound from each word, Snoopi assigns them to pitches and time values. These tiny sounds strung together gives Dectalk a high quality singing sound. Snoopi is widely known for giving the disabled community a voice to sing with. With 700 songs availible, people can now sing camp songs, scout songs, and Christmas songs. Music is part of the American culture and no one should be left out.Snoopi writes music of his own, and has released a Gospel CD tittled "WORDS OF LOVE". Snoopi felt that there really wasn't good meditative music for those people who already know Jesus, but need a song or an album that will meet them right where they are act. Everyone has struggles and problems, and Snoopi's music helps to bring Jesus into that situation, and to give that person the needed touch right where they are at.For others, they may need to be motivated and reminded that God can use them. It takes Snoopi a very long time to program each song as muscle spasms slow his typing speed down to 29 charactors a minute. Because programming Dectalk involves sounds, time values, and pitches, you can imagine how many hours it takes to program a song. This can't compare to how much time God takes with each and every person. Snoopi who lives his life in a wheelchair, still shares the love and inspiration of Jesus Christ. A high motivation for those who think they can't do very much |

Artist History
In 1986, Snoopi was living in a nursing home with hopes of one day being out on his own. He wanted to be a song writer, actually a singer but he couldn't even talk clearly. He took an interest in communication devices. He new basic programming, and wanted to play with a computer voice. So, he got a communication device and played around with the voice. Upon getting a voice chip upgrade, Snoopi discovered that the voice could be programmed to sing. After 6 weeks of work, Snoopi programmed his first song. Off key and out of time, Snoopi didn't care because it was his very first song.Snoopi spent the next 5 years taking music classes, only it was much harder. Snoopi had to take normal music theory and code it into a machine that had no rhythm, tempo, and really was not designed to sing. All his friends asked who in the world would want to hear a computer sing. But eventually, Snoopi made his work availible to the disabled community. Orders and requests started to poor in. For the first time, people now had an equal oppertunity to sing. Ine of the most touching for Snoopi was when he stayed up all night to program a song, and E-mailed it to a boy so he could sing it at his Father's funeral. As a street singer in Downtown Minneapolis, Snoopi earned enough money to move out on his own. He buys his own equipment, and now he travels a lot. The general public has no understanding what a disability is, and when a family has a disabled child, they have no idea what expectations to have. So Snoopi travels and gives hope to those who need it most |
