    Artist description
Please visit www.milktooth.com for updated news, biographies and show dates. contact info:415-336-9400 *** MILKTOOTH is a four- piece San Francisco alternative rock band with a sense of patience. All of their tunes sound like they composed themselves: nothing is rushed or pushed; everything evolves at its ideal pace. Led Zepplin had this same quality. -indiesound.com ****** Milktooth has a different style to its music, Edgy sounding with feelings. There is a good deal of talent in your band. -Romeo Durscher, Rock 101 Promotions****** Not sure how to categorize this, but i loved it. Great all around song, loved the female vocals and the mood. And thank you for not sounding just like anyone... this rocks. I listened to it twice. -Review of Waterproof, garageband.com - ANTHONY QUINLIVAN ******From the moment "Dropped" by milktooth started to fade in, i k new i was in for something special. The whole atmosphere created by the band is fantastically eerie and menacing. -Sam, godsofmusic.com

    Artist History
Aggressive, metallic, ethereal. Tight rhythms with smoky female vocals. Formed in 1998 by guitarist/vocalist Josh Chase and bassist/vocalist Rebecca Hill, rock band Milktooth started creating the basis of the group's distinct sound inside a cramped warehouse space in San Francisco's SOMA district. In April 2000, Milktooth had a lineup change and met drummer Kevin Sanders through a local music posting. Sanders added a straight forward rhythm style and helped the band tighten its growing repertoire of songs. The band then grew to a four-piece in January 2001 with the addition of guitarist James Bridges and began work on the band's first seven-song EP. Milktooth self-released the EP in August 2001 with plans for a West Coast tour in early 2002. The album showcases the band's personal musical influences (Soundgarden, Radiohead, Swans) and establishes the group's originality within the music community. Milktooth's style continues to evolve, from dramatically moody to experimentally raw. But the collaborative foundation of the band is unanimous -- to create and perform unique rock music.

james bridges guitar backing vocals piano *** James Bridges probably got his favorite phrase, "Full speed or no speed" from constantly moving. Born in Cedar City, Utah, he spent much of his youth in various parts of the West Coast, from a brief adolescence in Riverside, CA to his late teens in San Diego, CA. As Milktooth’s forth member (he joined the band in January 2001) Bridges contributes a share of his personal musical tastes to his stepfather’s alumni status in the L.A. punk scene (M80s, No Prisoners). While Bridges’ band credits include front man for San Diego band, Shimmer, he is enjoying his wide range of success in Milktooth and hopes he gets a personal email from a fan some day.****** josh chase guitar backing vocals**** Josh had a New Wave haircut once. But growing up in Irvine, CA in the late eighties, everyone did…right? Although influenced by popular as well as obscure music, Josh has carved a distinct sound for himself and for Milktooth. His recent success can also be attributed to his first band, Geisha (L.A.), who disbanded in 1997 but helped Josh realize that he wanted to play music in the first place. There have been many close calls for Josh and his future in music, whether it be the time he got held up at gunpoint in his apartment while his equipment made their way out of his house to when he dropped his new Mesa Boogie amp before a show. But he weathered both without a scratch (except for a possible broken toe). Josh is a big fan of all things music, but is looking forward to a long and successful journey with Milktooth.****** rebecca hill bass guitar vocals***** Born in Detroit, Michigan, Rebecca first started her music career playing piano duets with her older sister. Colorful renditions of, "Eye of the Tiger", "Promises, Promises" and "We Built This City" filled the Hill household (until songbook, Greatest Hits of the 80s mysteriously disappeared). Rebecca continued playing and performing music, from classical piano in her adolescence to folk guitar in her late teens. Ready for a change, Rebecca found herself in San Francisco, CA where she started Milktooth with Josh Chase in late 1998. Enjoying the songwriting and collaborative style of the band is something Rebecca has been looking for in a group for a long time. Just don’t ask her to play any Lita Ford tunes on the piano. She just might take you up on it.****** kevin sanders drums ***** Where to begin? Kevin's a lot of the Rock of Milktooth, whether it be his David Bowie-esque frame to his ever-growing collection of hair band t-shirts. But then again, Kevin lives and breathes Rock and Roll, stemming from his roots as a gregarious kid in the Florida Keys, banging on plastic 5-gallon buckets to teach himself to play drums as well as his idols. John Bonham. Peter Criss. Charlie Watts. Kevin even tried the music manager route, but found that his true love existed in performing live (he also found a better use for his leather pants on-stage with Milktooth than in the sweltering heat of the manager’s tour bus). Kevin started as a drummer in various Florida Keys cover bands as well as San Francisco-based glam trio, Poisin Jett Gunz. If there is a live Rock show going on, chances are Kevin is either in the audience or on-stage performing. Just look for the Quiet Riot t-shirt.

ARTIST: MILKTOOTH SONG: DROPPED GENRE: ALTERNATIVE / POSTPOP SIMILAR: PJ HARVEY, EARLY GARBAGE, PIXIES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the moment "Dropped" by Milktooth started to fade in, I knew I was listening to something special. The whole atmosphere created by the band is fantastically eerie and menacing. "Dropped" made me feel like I was alone in a cabin in the woods with a storm raging outside. The bass and drums are like the thunder and wind, whilst the sharp guitar riff dances around like bolts of lightening. The vocals really add another element of danger, as Rebecca Hill sings somewhere between Kim Deal and PJ Harvey. A really strong voice that demands attention for its cool style. If there any weaknesses it is that the middle eight did seem a bit tacked on, but at least they provided some variety to the proceedings. Also the chorus lacked a bit of punch, but that’s something that could be easily fixed in the mixing. Overall the mixing does this fantastic band few favours, so I’d maybe suggest going back to studio to shell out this great song even more. But as it stands "Dropped" still easily deserves the attention of everyone...
