Artist description
Founded in New York City in A.D. 2000, Lost Cat Records specializes in music by an eclectic group of bands and musicians. Independent in every sense, some of this music is new, and some goes back 20 years or more, only now being released thanks to the magic of the internet. If there is a discernible Lost Cat aesthetic, it would be firmly rooted in the American rock and roll tradition, which draws upon elements of folk, blues, country, and pop to create a new sound that both incorporates its influences while transcending them. In that sense it is all folk music in the truest sense. The single biggest criteria that we use to determine the music you'll hear on Lost Cat Records, however, is this: whether or not we like and listen to it ourselves. Of course, we prefer to think that if we enjoy a performer or a song, chances are others will enjoy it, too. And so, in true rock and roll spirit, we offer up some of our personal favorites, and hope that among them you'll discover a few new favorites of your own. |
