Since I was 13 I've been writing and Freestyling, plus rappin in different groups. It took a little while to get equipment to record on, but I had so much material it was easy once I got some. I met Bron in 99 and hooked up w. the super producer Acapella...and here I am upclose and personal.

I thought it was a game until Bron popped in a tape of instrumentals and told J. to freestyle for me.“Off the top of the head” is what hip-hop really is. This determines the differences between an MC and a rapper. With this writer following the same philosophy he dropped more than 60 bars before it seemed he even took a breath. He dropped more and more game and I kept scooping it up.After the little break Bron supplied me with a few choices cuts from the assorted catalog of songs they’ve been working on. They both quickly advised me that I was listening to rough drafts before play was pressed.J-Loc’s flow over these tracks were not much different than the freestyles that I heard earlier. This flow is so versatile. This cat is dipped in pure hip-hop. The place where nothing matters more than the lyrics over a simple track. Within 15 minutes J. dropped metaphors through rapid-fire flows, slowed down over a slow-moving grooves and he even took it back to California with a song that brings thoughts of sun, fun and forties. If I had to choose a word, it would be simple: raw. What’s most impressive about J-Loc is the way he manages to become one with any track he works with. I heard an assortment. All from the same production there were tracks that took me to from Queens to Shaolin to Long Beach to Louisiana. He touched everyone with the same ease as the last. The song could be pre-produced or I could watch him with a microphone in hand, it didn’t matter. The entire time, Bron sat back and watched his top gun attack everyone and everything “off the top.”-Article by Renny Diamond_
