Drawing upon a variety of influences (e.g., Rolling Stones, Elton John, Elvis Costello, Counting Crows, Willie Nelson), Estes has modernized the singer-songwriter approach giving way to a bigger, bolder sound that helps to blend thoughtful lyrics with identifiable melodies. “I’ve always believed that any good song should be able to sustain its strength when broken down to basics.
