Artist description Vernal Pool is an acoustic ensemble made up of flute, acoustic guitar, bouzouki, fiddle, fretless bass, and percussion. Melding a number of influences, from samba to jazz, the band creates a unique and complex sound. Confunding to those who like to label their boxes neatly and alphabetize their socks, Vernal Pool appeals to those of us who champion the unique over the antique, the eclectic over the electric, and the clever over the stupid. Artist History Vernal Pool is an up and coming band on the Chicago scene, garnering a first place finish at the Northwestern Battle of the Bands and recieving heavy rotation on midwestern NPR stations. Founded by bassist Serge Van der Voo and guitarist Aaron Klein, the band came into its own with the addition of flautist Ori Belkind and drummer/percussionist/aspiring ventriloquist Mark Litin. David Spangler contributes accordian on the cd though has seperated with the band due to "creative differences." Recent additions to the band include guitarist Rob Stephenson and fiddlist, Paul Fine. They are currently working on their new CD
