Artist description
The Last Act is a 2 member, classic and industrial grade rock band that was formed back in 1984. The current members have been together for 16 years and have grown into a cohesive, aggressive unit. The twin brothers are from Calgary, very diverse, and have varied backgrounds. There is something for EVERYONE found in the Last Act’s amazing sound! The Last Act is guaranteed to satisfy almost everyone’s musical needs: Everything from technical rock, wonderful melodies, and that hard-driving sound that provides that “edge” that seems to be missing from today’s rock to beautiful sounding harmonies and vocals. The music has been described as everything from “medieval rock”, to a mix of bands and individuals that have gone before. No one can quite put their finger on which bands have influenced the Last Act, and each person has his or her own opinion. Yet no one can seem to agree on any particular influence or mix of influences. A truly UNIQUE sound has been achieved. When asked what influences the Last Act has had and the audience that the band is shooting for, Jeff Larsen, lead guitar player and one of the primary song writer’s in this song writing duo, had this to say:“We have had so many good influences over the years, it is very difficult to list them all. Suffice it to say, I believe what we have achieved here is that Cathedral and Gothic sound we were after, and we have kept true to it in all of the songs we write. As far as pigeon-holing our audience, I won’t do that. I think that there is something for almost every true classic or modern rock lover in what we write. My main driving force in helping to create these tunes and continue to create these tunes is I am tired of turning on the radio and hearing the same old crap; Also not being able to buy any NEW band’s CD’s that are classic or hard rock based music. I wanted to be able to listen to some new hard rock in my car that was GOOD, so I helped to write what we all like so I could do that, to be honest.”Paul Larsen, Lead Singer/ Bass player and one of the primary songwriter’s had this to say about the main influence on the bands music. “Our music is a release and outlet of our everyday pain that we feel and have experienced over time. It is about the pain of living, overcoming and surviving. We channel our feelings into our music. We feel that everyday people can relate to what we are talking about here and will be able to relate with the emotion that is expressed, both verbally and non-verbally through our music”. |

Artist History
The team of the Jeff Larsen and Paul Larsen have been playing music together since the age of 12 to form their first band. All of the members started playing their instruments at the same time. Jeff Larsen and Paul Larsen continued to play music on a part time basis. A great deal of credit can be given to Marilee Miller, the Larsen’s junior high school band teacher, for the initial encouragement and resources given freely to help these talented individuals realize their talent and true calling. Without Marilee, none of this would have ever happened. The music has continued over the years, through various member changes, to the final group that is the same as the original players in this band. The Last Act has undergone several major member changes, yet the core ingredients have always remained the same: Jeff and Paul Larsen. Many difficulties and hardships have almost ended the project on two specific occasions: once approximately 10 years ago where personal issues with Jeff Larsen and Paul Larsen became overwhelming, and again in March of 2000 due to a last minute member change prior to recording their debut CD. The original vision and ideals have survived the test of time, and it shows in their latest release.Almost 20 years later, the sound has remained and so has the original musical ideals, although the quality and the talent have grown almost exponentially. We all look forward to future releases from this band, as every new song they write is something totally unexpected, and something SO pleasurable to listen too! |

Press Reviews
Hungry for hard driving rock that has an actual melody to it? It has been a while sinceanyone new has come along with a flair for catchy, yet pounding technical metal. Theawesome songwriting duo of the Larsen Brothers have teamed up and are about torelease this fresh and sincere album that will rock your world! Think of the sound andcool licks from the first 4 or so Iron Maiden albums with Geddy Lee on Vocals andthere you have it. I can proudly say that this is the best new band to come along that Ican easily remember in the last 10 years and am proud to have contributed to thisballsy project! Look for a full album to come, hopefully not too long after thisintroduction to the band. Be sure to email Bassist / Vocalist Paul and order a copy tohear the amazing licks yourself!Kevin Kurekk - Audio ImaginingHOLY S++T !!!!!Put your hands in the air for the Larsen Brothers! I've now had a listen (actually, many) to the kick ass, in-your-face album that the Last Act recorded. Definitely oneof the best new bands I have heard in a LONG time! I hope you guys are going toplay Live and promote the heck out of it, because it is fresh and as far as I know, there isn't really anything else like it in this industry. My wife didn't know it wasyou guys when I played it, and she also loved it. It is certainly refreshing. I lookforward to seeing more in the near future!!Jeremy Spencer - Sinfonia Productions |
