Artist description
Gypsy DNA out now. Also sampler of four other
songs. It is with great pride we announce the
birth of the two CDs and remind you that "It's no
shame if you can't afford to pay."
Featuring Mary Hattersley on Barcus Berry violin --
Erin Foster on tablas, dumbek, and
Egyptian tambourine --
Cole El Saleh on Korg (accordion sounds) --
Marvin Dykhuis on flamenco guitar, oud, and
bouzouki --
Wali Stopher on vocals, drum machine, tambourine,
Yamaha DX7 (bass, organ, trumpet, trombone,
qamun), rhythm guitar, goat hooves shaker, and
finger cymbals.
All of us on this CD feel connections with
middle Eastern music of all kinds and with
flamenco and Sephardic music of Spain.

Artist History
Born above a drugstore in a 2-room hospital
somewhere in northern Louisiana.
Met up with fellow musicians in Austin.
Mary Hattersley plays in Greezy Wheels,
the High Rollers, and the WST Bluegrass
Band, and teaches violin.
Erin Foster plays in The Gypsies, the Middle
Eastern Ensemble of UT, and with a Sephardic group
based, I believe, in L A.
Marvin Dykhuis plays with Tish Hinojosa, is
bandleader and player with Threadgill's
Troubadours on Wednesday nights, and was featured
in a pickup band that played for the President of
the USA and guests at Crawford, Texas.
Cole El Saleh plays with many bands and performers,
including Carolyn Wonderland and Rusty Weir.
These are some lovely people and excellent
musicians. I am forever grateful to them for
helping me put this music together. |
