Artist History
Herman Muhammad (Synister Mr. Black) was a young and very active member of
the Fruit of Islam in Muhammad Mosque #15 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was also
a rapper whose lyrics were based on the Teachings of the Honorable Elijah
Muhammad under the guidance of Minister Louis Farrakhan. His lyrics were
conscious, righteous and effective at reaching the youth not only in
Atlanta but also in many cities across the Nation.
He was shot and killed while saving the life of a woman and her baby who
were inadvertently caught in the crossfire of a hail of bullets at a local
Atlanta barber shop and salon.
Just months before his death, he recorded five songs that laid the
groundwork for a full-length album. Circumstances did not allow him to
complete his work.
eleven to one records, through special arrangement with Herman's family,
has compiled his musical legacy into an EP that is his testament. Thus, the
album's title. With a style reminicent of a young LL Cool J and lyrical
ability that can bring to mind Rakim (yes, we know that's a tall
order--Herman delivers!), the listener is guided through the mind of a man
who truly had something to say and something special to share.
A portion of the proceeds generated from the sale of this album will
benefit the NOI Student Association Herman Muhammad Scholarship Fund and his family.
