Artist History
Once were The Dharmas. Maybe you've heard of them.
The chances are that if you went to a UK Festival,
like Glastonbury, or a UK University, or a
UK Venue, between the years 1993 and, 1997,
you will have come across them. If you did,
you may remember a bunch of musicians dancing
about on stage, singing uplifting, anthemic
frenzied Pop, really enjoying themselves and
hopefully spreading a little bit of Love around
the room (or field).
Their site is much more than a trip down memory
lane. The mission for World Dharmanation is still
very much a reality now as it was then. With the
Internet, The Dharmas, although no-more in the
physical sense can live and breathe in the
Virtual sense.
These songs are the testimony of a free thinking
Indie band, who were unfortunately let down by a
Major Label.
The flag is still flying with Simon Steadman's
new band Steadman, a project still containing
members of The Dharmas. Both the Dharmas album
and the Steadman album are available at their
respective sites. Do yourself a favour,
Live a little and Experience the music of this
Great Band.
This site will be regularly updated with singles,
b-sides and album tracks from their time with
Rhythm King and Arista.

Press Reviews
Recalling the late 60's of Traffic and even the glorious Grateful Dead in ecstatic jam mode, quoting Qunitessence
for chrissakes. The flashbacks are conscious but not contrived; the sound, however, is their own- acoustic-rooted
but far from fey or even folky, a beat owing as much to soul as to rock ‘n roll, and contemporary as anything so
microchip-free can be. Like the ‘Flowers and Praise Space Electric they've made something new out of scraps and
textures from records that saw the light way before they were born (that only vinyl junkie saddoes like me have in
the first place)- and like those, and anyone else whose natural home is a festival stage in a green field, they bring a
bagful of sunshine into any wet town evening. Rarely have I seen a band that I can so confidently predict a fine
future for or so strongly recommend you go and see next time around. Hey, it must be their Dharma just to be
beautiful, man. That's beautiful too, ya know................... |
