Artist History
Michael Van Gogh is the former lead singer/bassist of the defunct Manhattan,KS-based band The Moving Van Goghs. The MVG's, a seminal band in the lower midwest music scene released three recordings: The Moving Van Goghs (1988),Wintermind EP (1990), and Octaphenia EP (1992).Critical and popular favorites on the Kansas and Missouri bar circuit throughout the late 80's andearly 90's, the MVG's shared the stagewith acts such as: The Flaming Lips, Nova Mob, The Lemonheads, The Swans, Too Much Joy, The Embarrassment, Scruffy the Cat, Bomb, and Love Tractor.Several months after the release of their Octaphenia EP, The MVG's disbanded, and Michael relocatedto Minneapolis. There he worked on his first solorecordings with producer/musician Paul Sebastienof Psykosonik. In 1995, he formed a new band calledRevolverina, that played the Minneapolis bar circuituntil their break-up in 1997. They managed to release a 3-song EP of songs penned by Van Gogh: "Venus De Milo," "Dissolve," and "Half-Life."Michael has since recorded, as a solo artist, analbum's worth of songs with Minneapolis producer Tom Herbers. |
