Artist description
I want to create music that is warm and romantic, soothing and uplifting. To me music is a sublime, universal language for sharing feelings, ideas and visions. My own music is inspired by my family (especially my wife Jayshree: check out number 15 on Intimate Impressions), nature, the Yorkshire countryside and tranquil holidays. |

Music Style
Classical, contemporary and ragtime. |

Musical Influences
For me the piano is the ultimate romantic sound. As a child I loved to listen to my mother playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and Chopin's Nocturnes. My other influences include Rachmaninov, Debussy, Ravel, Granados, Albeniz and the Catalan composer Mompou. I also enjoy ragtime (especially Joplin), piano jazz, American piano including Gottschalk and George Winston, opera (especially Mozart and Puccini) and classical guitar (especially Villa-Lobos, Rodrigo and Leo Brower). |
|
Similar Artists
Chopin, Tchaikowsky, Rachmaninov, Gottschalk, Joplin, George Winston. |

Artist History
I first learnt the piano from my mother when I was 6 years old. I have been playing ever since. It is an extraordinary passion. I have always enjoyed composing but have had a particular surge of creativity in the last few years (I am 43 years old). I am a medical doctor specializing in the brain. |
