Press Reviews
Maryland Music Monthly Dec 1999,vol. 16,No.12,Issue #183 "Here's a curious little item born, bred, and spread in Ocean City--and boy does it sound like it. Hearing any of these songs on the CD, one can visualize these beachcombers sitting on stools in any bayside bar or resturant in town, singing their pleasent acoustic ditties to half-attentive tourists present. The fact that one member sings in a sweet, Brian Wilson-meets-Wayne Coyne falsetto certainly plays into the image. So does the fact that his vocal style is most effectively utilized on the two songs that directly allude to their caostal dwelling:"Summertime" and "In My Town."....being that the whole CD was recorded in one take...most of the ten songs are catchy, with competent playing. There's no drums, just two acoustic guitars and electric bass and it doesn't get dull when the ensemble goes into an extended arrangement to accomodate a solo and/or repeat a couple of verses." |
