Artist description
Adwin (AH-DWEEN)Brown's second CD, Bluezeum: Put Your Mind on Hold, which he co-produced alongside Rick Hahn, continues to filet the perceived cut-and-dry concepts from which society operates. Spawned by his own hunger for innovative musical concoctions and the artist's Los Angeles enclave of Leimert Park, Adwin has grown from poet and performance artist to musician and composer.
On this new recording, Adwin shot for what he calls, "UTE - Unfamiliar Territory Explored." It's a concept that Norwood Fisher of Fishbone founded and one that Adwin utilized when the pressure of perfection in the studio hung over his head. "It's an act of surrender when you're up against something and you're just like 'man, what do we do now?' I'd just declare UTE and let it flow." |

Artist History
For someone who almost failed a high school poetry class because of his attempts to put an unheard of cultural spin on Whitman's Leaves of Grass, and first used a boom box for back-up music, Adwin has come a long way. He's brought his questions and his affinity for the mystical to the world of performance art while remaining an enigma. This keeps him from getting too serious about his work, yet allows him maneuverability. |
