    Artist description
Blister Rust is a NYC/Long Island aggressive rock band formed in 1994 that held the "FEATURED METAL SONG" spot (in late June of 1999 - for "NAIL ME DOWN") and "FEATURED HARDCORE METAL SONG" between 5/15/99 and 6/15/99 for "V-8". Blister Rust pounds the human animal to think and prods the listener to reflect. A "Black Sabbath-like" set-up. A band that sparks the bowl. Pure cocaine for the soul. Reach out and hug it.
    Music Style
Aggressive Rock with enough salt for anyone's wounds. A la The Offspring meets Foo Fighters.
    Musical Influences
Blister Rust has been influenced by earlier bands such as Black Sabbath/The Stooges all way through the years to Green Day/Tool. Their sound as been described loosely as if The Offspring met the Foos at a bar during a self-improvement seminar.

    Artist History
Blister Rust formed in 1994. The band has released three albums - one in 1997, one in 1998 and the new puupy in 2001 - all thru their own label. Blister Rust spent its early years throwing beer at patrons while playing obscure covers mixed with early originals at local NYC and Long Island dives. A blast was had by one and all. Blister Rust has played the NYC Marathon every year since its inception. In 1996, the band filmed its video for "Cleansing" at the Marathon. Every idiot in NYC tried to get his head in the video - so Rx used fire extinguishers and piss to ward off the rejects. It was hilarious. The band's CD Release Party for "Scratch" in 11/98 at the infamous Webster Hall in NYC was equally as twisted. A topless Ms. Blister Rust 1998 handed out CD's and entertained fans by inserting wooden matches thru her nipple ring holes. She then asked fans to make a wish and blow them out after she wholeheartedly sparked the wooden sticks up. Rx came out covered in a sheet wearing a toe tag while laying on a gurney (see album cover). Awesome show with hundreds of fans - the sound check was over an hour and the system cranked. The band was truly immersed in the performance that night. Fans went nuts. Will ended up dancing the night away with some high class hookers from Connecticut. Rx took Ms. Blister Rust home and in his words "spanked her rotten." The first two releases enjoyed tremendous success on college radio. The albums were added to rotation on 500+ stations throughout the country and charted many many times. College kids smoked up big time to the music. The band finished up their last regional tour in the Spring of 2000 and began working on the 3rd album "Push". "Push" was completed in February 2001. Rx and Will produced it. The band is back on the road. Look for them at play grounds all over the Northeast.

    Press Reviews
“The drums pound, the guitar rips, the bass follows through and the lyrics tell me this band will be bigger than all of us one day." - MORBID Magazine (Lucky #13) 4/99. "This band has a punch that can wake the dead with a lingering sound that makes you hum their songs." - Cover 3/99. "Blister Rust comes across like a garage band on steroids...a most entertaining release." - Renegade 2/99. "The album contained a smorgasbord of musical selections (with styles ranging in influences from Rage Against The Machine, AC/DC, Rush and of course The Beatles) catering a bit to everyone's distinctive tastes." - L.I. Entertainment 12/98. "This'll shake you up like your mama's vibrator." - New York Press 11/98. "The lead vocalist sounds at times as if the lyrics are being ripped out with a rusty pair of pliers while the rest of the band grinds out solid metal hooks and grooves. Probably the most important aspect of this band is their caustic sense of humor." - Tail Spins 10/98. "The show was closed by the highly talented local metal band, Blister Rust. This is Long Island's answer to bands such as AC/DC, both in the power of their music and the humor in their lyrics. Charismatic lead singer Rx Rasputin stormed back and forth through the crowd of The Wrong Way (thanks to his handy wireless microphone), doing a great job of getting the crowd involved in his band’s set." - Good Times Magazine (Issue #786) June, 2000.
