Artist description BLACK ATMOSPHERE. The best goth bands embraced gloom, celebrated death, and danced laughing on the graves of those who went before them. Bauhaus and the Sisters of mercy did it perfectly. Nowaday's it's hard to find a band getting it right. All the neo-goth hippy crap, shining a torch of love into the darkness and floating like a moonstruck leaf on a sea of ether -- UGH! it's nothing more than Mariah Carey in a black laced dress with makeup. Black Atmosphere doesn't hesitate for a second before swallowing the black pill. The first thing you'll notice is the voice. Vocalist Christoph sounds more like prime-Bauhaus Peter Murphy than even Pete does these days. The second thing to hit you is the depth detail of the music.

Artist History Black Atmosphere was formed in late 1991 by christoph originally as recording project.The project quickly became a band and immediately set up a tour of the Northwest. After an incredible response in the pregrunge northwest. B.A made a move from Los Angeles to Seattle where they found their home. Christoph took the band into the studio where they recorded. " Infinity " a 3-song E.P & did a short tour to follow. Next between show's & press another 4-song E.P was released " Abstract Thoughts." This recording led to the band signing with " Ex-sanguis Records " where a 7" single was released. The label folded before any other recording's were made. Later the Ep "Abstract Thoughts " trickled into the overseas press & slowly Europe caught wind of Black Atmosphere. Media attention both on the radio and in magazines was incredible! Quickly passing the USA. Distribution for the e.p was picked up by a few European Distributors. Black Atmosphere then recorded yet another 4-song E.P " The Red Tape " And Recorded 3 other songs in the studio which was released as. " Redeem." The 1st album was Composed 1/2 of new material & 1/2 of old off the E.P's. 12 songs all in all. " Redeem " sold well & was liscenced by darkside records in France which led to the signing of Black Atmosphere to Darkside Records for the album " Enrapture". Before the signing occurred the band lost two members who had been with the project a very long time. Christoph then found the current bassist Scott and another guitarist sage and went into The Christ analogue studio with Wade Allin who produced much of the album. " enrapture." Wade brought out much of the bands psychedelic influence and combined it with an electronic feel. Some songs such as " Time falling " And " Maid of athens were formed in the studio as others were being written in between sessions. 3/4 of the way through the album Christoph went across the waters to europe where he did a promo tour traveling all over. The album " Enrapture " was released " March 25th " in europe and is selling well there. It is only available in the U.S. as an import or throught the merchandise page As for the band they will be touring extensively for the next 2 years. Darkside Records is a wonderful label. doing much promo for the band and selling many records as is our polish label " Ghostmaniac " with distribution through S.P.V plans for a live album are being made for the next release in early 1998 as well as a new studio album.
