In August of 2000 Skullmonkey became an all-original band!!!The Big ChangeAfter two years of playing cover songs Skullmonkey was ready to can the cover scene. This was not a hard choice to make since all the clubs are still paying the same as they have for about 20 years now without much increase to speak of.Nonetheless the main reason for the change Was simply for the joy of playing there our own music.Larry Lees & Rick King are the only members from the cover version of Skullmonkey who could agree on this decision and so the other members went on playing cover music, best of luck guys. At the same time Franz Poscher & Larry Lees had been working together for about 8 months on an original Industrial Metal project under the name of Cue and three of their songs were chosen to be on the EMW Records Minneapolis Own Compilation CD entitled The Collage.ON August 20,2000 Larry & Rick decided it was time to go all original.Just the moment Franz was waiting for, and so the two entities merged to become Skullmonkey all originalNow this trio had the task of finding a bass player to complete the group, after auditioning several bass players Steve Schelberg was accepted into the band at his first Audition, the fit was like a glove.The ProductIn addition to an EXPLOSIVE STAGE SHOW,Skullmonkey is dedicated to writing music that sounds like today, not yesterday.With a mixture of Metal Riffs, Screaming & Rapping vocals, effects loops, and extremely Danceable Rhythms they can be categorized as an Heavy Metal Band with a modern edge.So if a hard -hitting band and explosive stage show is what you are looking for Search no more Skullmonkey is Here!
