    Artist History
The concept of Quantum Deluxe was concieved in early 1997, by its two original members, and the band was established shortly after. The band now consists of four members, Durell Thaw, Mangle, DJ Madds & Letch Fester. Their style is best described as futuristic, deepcore techno-zen based hip-hop.Quantum Deluxe is now well established as one of the front runners of the Bristol hip-hop scene, and are recognised for their diverse styles, and have been acclaimed for their experimentation with drum 'n bass & breakbeat. The ethos that is incorporated by the band is widely seen as being the future of UK hip-hop, concentrating on Quality & Innovation. What's Next...The D6AD E.P. is going on general release in the second or third week of July in all good record stores, but make sure you get yours early, as only 800 copies will be availiable.Quantum Deluxe are about to start work on their 25 track album, whichwill be completed (hopefully) by August 2001. The album will feature established artists such as MC Retna, Biostasis, Maggie-T, Luke, Felony, Jakes & Junior Disprol to name but a few, and promises to be the definitive Bristol Hip-Hop album of the millenium. Work in the studio begins 16 July 2000, where 50 tracks will be written, selecting 25 for the final release. Watch tis space for more details...
    Group Members
Durell Thaw* a.k.a Thaw, Trial, Terry Burbank, Sam "Well" Hung.If Quantum Deluxe were the A-Team,Thaw would be Face. He excels whenever in the pubic eye, and as such, is the most accessible member of the band. His style is best described as cryptic, cynical, abstract & inventive. He has been writing and performing his own lyrics for over a decade, and when plied with a large vodka & tonic, he has the unnerving ability to inimidate and humiliate the very best MC through freestyle. Co-creator of the FreeScan (tm) rhyming technique, Thaw commands respect from all of his peers on the circuit and elsewhere. His name comes his involvement with Kryogenics (a previous incarnation of Quantum Deluxe), and his love of 48k back in the day...*Durell Software was a games company established on the eighties. They made some of the finest software around for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.Mangle* a.k.a Jeff Bannen, Butch Walker, Mangler. If Quantum Deluxe were The Simpsons, Mangle would be Homer. He performs best when under pressure, spitting diamond tipped freestyles with frightening ease. His style is best described as laser precise, complex, angry & real. Mangle is the logician of the band, and when plied with 16 or 18 vodkas & coke, his rhymes are known to wander into a place many would find impossible to return from. Co-creator of the FreeScan (tm) rhyming technique, Mangle is rapidly spreading fear amongst his peers, and gaining a reputation for being one of the most clinical MC's on the circuit...*The name Mangle comes from the unity of two words, Man + Angles.DJ Madds* a.k.a Billy Regal, Trigger Morris, Madds. If Quantum Deluxe was a group of STD's, DJ Madds would be Pubic Lice. He has performed on the circuit for many years, and works best when under the influence of large amounts of alcohol. His style is best described as frantic, furious, insane & perverse. DJ Madds is the breaks man of the band, using a wealth of knowledge & experience to create hard-hitting, punchy tracks. DJ Madds is the founder of the "Sidewinder" scratch, and spends a lot of time developing new techniques at the band studio, Secret Levels.*The name DJ Madds was devised after his short spell in a mental insititute.Letch Fester* a.k.a Error. If Quantum Deluxe were the A-Team, Letch Fester would like to think he would be B.A.Baracus. He has been writing & producing tracks for many years, and is now being recognised for his ability to create original beats and tracks. His style is best described as fluid, sharp, creative & vibrant. Letch Fester works solely in the studio, thus enabling him to concentrate entirely on making high quality tracks.*Only Letch Fester knows exactly how his name was concieved, and the secret stays with him...
