He has received awards from Meet the Composer, the Ragdale Foundation, the American Music Center, and most recently, the New York Foundation for the Arts. Mr. Romero served as associate artist with the San Francisco Symphony's "Adventures in Music" and "Concerts for Kids" programs culminating in performances by the San Francisco Symphony of his short orchestral tone-poem "The Legend of Chung'Ah." Mr. Romero's piano concerto "Spirals" can be found on the Klavier Gold Records label, and he is published by Edward B. Marks Music Company. Romero's orchestrations of nineteenth century and contemporary works have been performed by the San Francisco Ballet and the San Francisco Opera. His original compositions include electro-acoustic pieces, incidental music, songs, a chamber opera, and works for traditional ensembles. Mr. Romero currently resides in New Rochelle, New York. Projects currently underway include recitals in Manhattan, San Francisco, and the New Rochelle in early 2001, and the premiere of his "Tres Danzas Cubanas" (arrangements for string orchestra of piano works by Ernesto Lecuona) in March, 2001.

    Press Reviews
"Spirals," with suggestions of jazz improvisation, and a romantic sense of color and atmosphere expressed in terms of tonality and vibrant harmony, is immensely approachable...moving and beautiful music, highly recommended.--Records International. "Spirals" is a fascinating, kaleidoscopic exercise in rondo form that uses the piano as an orchestral instrument one minute and as a soloist the next.   I'm sure I'll be listening to it again.--CDNOW.COM. Romero's "Radiophile" progressed from music that slithered as surrealistically as Dali's melting watches, to pounding but not punishing heavy-rock beats.  Creative orchestration gave rise to sparkling piano-glockenspiel embellishments and other fresh sounds.--Santa Cruz Sentinel
