Artist description
The music generated from Leos Invention on their self-produced album was written and recorded over the span of their fresh two-year history in their low-budget yet impressive home studio, which was also put together over the course of this time. The collection of nine songs, aptly titled "The Way Things Are Today", gives a sense of both completion/closure and of things yet to come for the band, its members, and the ears it reaches out and grabs onto.
Leos Invention's uninhibited approach to songwriting has resulted in a compilation of music that sets its own watermark in sound and style, easily identifiable while retaining its friendliness to mass appeal. The music, diverse and subtly indicative of influence, is fueled by the thoughtful and beneath-the-surface lyrical content, fired by a seamless blend of driving rhythms, dynamic changes, and haunting melodies; and propelled by clear-cut vocals. It was recorded and mixed with precision over long-hour sessions and performed with abandon, lending itself to the edge of Leos' cyclone-energy live show.
Lyrically, the songs deal with a wide array of subject matter, from the struggles of self-motivation, the release of negative emotion driven by love and, to the hazards of ambiguity inside an intimate relationship. They provide audiences with circumstance that is debatable, yet insightful, creating a friction that reverberates around the mind, while ably rolling off the tongue. The wide array of content, tone, and form on "The Way Things Are Today" is rounded out by the tightness of the band both musically and personally, resulting in the album's twisting cohesion that listeners will enjoy front to back.
