A dynamic powerhouse of seven Helsinki-based jazz/rock musicians. This constellation of three horns, keys, guit, bass and drums has become quite popular in the Helsinki clubscene. Artist History
Founded in 1993 by keyobardist Pessi Levanto and drummer Sami Kuoppamäki, the Groove Convention has slowly but surely become the most prominent example of instrumental funk in Finland. Manuel Dunkel on tenorsax joined the group in 1997, all of the other players being founding members. During eight years of solid funk the group has become a tight unit, being much more than the sum of its parts. |
