Artist History
Southern California's Damone was formed in late 1996, when singer/songwriter/guitaristShane Alexander, bassist Josh Daum, and drummer Josh Grolemund decided to leave theirband ( LA based YOUNG ART ) to start a new group with more edge and fewer boundaries. After searching in vain for a second guitarist /writer/ harmony vocalist for months, Dave Boyle( Hawaiian born multi-instrumentalist ) was asked to audition. He respectfully declined due to his current recording obligations. The outlook began to look grim - Should they go on as a three piece? As fate would have it, Dave called back a few weeks later saying he would like to give it a go,and after a night's jamming, the lineup was finally in place...The band quickly flew to Pittsburgh ( home of Josh, Josh and Shane ) to demosome of their new material and to get to know their newest member.By summer 97', the band was gigging in Los Angeles and starting to amass a loyal following. In the next year and a half, Damone played electric and acoustic gigs in nearly every room in Southern California and polished their unique sound. The next step was to make a record, one that they could be proud of and that would show alltheir depth and range. The band went into their studio and began the arduous task ofrecording 14 songs completely on their own. In the spring of 2000 the band released its self-produced debut.Damone is returning to the studio in December to work on anearly 2001 release . |
