Artist description
Best new music following the style of Sublime, but comparisons are unfair because the music of 60 CYCLE HUM is too creative and original to be compared to anyone else. |

Artist History
60 Cycle Hum was formed in Cincinnati, oh in 1999. Their sound includes funk, blues, and ska- just to name a few. Mike Robinson (vocals, keyboards), Andy Hopkins (vocals, guitar), and Richelle Smith (vocals, bass) had been playing small venues as an acoustic blues trio. When they met Ryan Millians (drums) through an ad in a local paper, their sound changed into a full tilt, electrified funk machine. The band built a tight group of free-thinkers and booty-shakers of all age groups at their live shows without recording a single note. Sleight of hand records gave out 200 pre-release singles in the spring of 2000 to industry insiders and select fans. the response was better than anyone couldve expected. After their explosive recording sessions at ultrasuede studios, Millians had to leave town to attend the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in arizona, and Matt Eshleman took his place behind the drum set to help them finish their debut album- Bottoms Up! 60 cycle hum continued to evolve their live show. they added a turn-tablist to the mix -Adam Cummins- and soon they got word from millains that he was on his way home to rejoin the band. This new twist allows eshleman to step out front with the flute and the zendrum, a guitar-shaped electronic drum type thing with midi triggers and bright shiny lights and, um... well, youll just have to see it to understand. |
