Press Reviews
ORGANART ZINE REVIEW OCTOBER 2000 : SOURCLOWNS - More from the clowns, who wants to come out to play today? Messy teen punk pop, more youth club wrecking angel wing crushing brattyness. Their best demo yet, bet they wish they were popular, bet they wish they were cool. Today Sourclowns (excellent name) sound like The Undertones rucking with The Pin Ups and Shellac and all with a dangerously cool lo-fi bratty garage vibe Idlewild would kill for. The significant thing now though is that their songs are start to emerge, they've got a killer song called "Dead Just Like The Rock And Roll" and that feeling of getting old at 17 (yeah yeah, being 15 is where it's at!). It still sounds like they recording on broken four tracks in their garage, if someone put them in a 'proper' studio they'll lose it completely, no record label should ever give them any money - they've got more confrontational creative bratpowered suss than a million Symposiums - getting a bit dangerously reflective and acoustic on track four.... You’ll hate 'em, we love 'em, they've got it.... another fine Sourclown set of moments. |
