Artist History
The Poxy Boggards formed in 1992 as an excuse to hang out at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Devore, California (we've yet to understand why ANYONE would want to hang out in Devore).Originally a sextet, the Boggards were pioneers in the exciting new sub-genre, known as "Crud Folk." In 1996, we released our first CD, "Bawdy Parts: Original and Traditional Songs of Drinking and Revelry."In 1997, we were fired from the Faire. Not many shows that year.In 1999, musical talent and geographical topography were melded into a phenomenon know as Rogue's Reef. The Faire had provided us with an "Adults-Only" stage. This allowed us expand on the definition of "Crud Folk." Also in 1999, we released our second CD, "Barley Legal: More Songs About Women & Beer."And now on the cusp of the new millenium we are poised to release our third CD: "Obscene Jesters: Songs You Shouldn't Sing in Church." |
