Artist History
Bill Monroe is the father of Bluegrass. Born into a musical family, Bill started playing in various country bands from an early age. After parting from his family in 1938, Monroe decided to form his own band, combining traditional country with blues, using new combinations of instrumentation and arrangements. Monroe spent the early 1940’s developing his sound, distinguishing himself with his twangy vocal sound and unique mandolin style. Monroe continued to play and influence countless musicians throughout the years, until his death in 1996. |
