Artist History
Alison Crockett decided early in her life to pursue a music career. While a teenager, she performed with such notable artists as Ketter Betts, Bobby Rosengarden and Tyrone Brown. She later appeared in two stage shows in the New York area where her singing was described as “inspired” by the Syracuse Herald Journal. The Philadelphia Weekly states that her voice is “sultry and supple”, and Billboard loves her “throaty, diva-styled vocals.” She then proceeded to New York City where she has performed Sweet Basil’s with the Spirit of Life Ensemble. She was then featured in the Blue Note recording artist’s Greg Osby’s performance at the Knitting Factory for the 1996 What Is Jazz Festival, and at the Clef Club for 1997’s Mellon Jazz Festival. In 1998, Alison Crockett was invited to participate in the prestigious Thelonius Monk Institute Jazz Colony in Aspen, CO, where she appeared on the same stage with such notable artists as Nnenna Freelon and Herbie Hancock. She was received with high acclaim from audience, participants and jazz masters alike. She can be heard on several recordings, most notably on the Ovum/Sony Records recording “When The Funk Hits The Fan”, produced by King Britt.
