Artist History
The music of WiRTH - Flowers From Pompeii is the four year effort of singer/songwriter John Thomas, veteran of the Philadelphia music community. Originally written while John was living for two years in St. Lucia in the Caribbean, this CD was recorded at Digital Dog Studios in Chestnut Hill, PA over 1999 and 2000. Simultaneously, a band was being put together to perform the material and do additional writing. The first piece of the puzzle was finding drummer Justin Perkins in April of 1999. With 17 years of playing experience and numerous band credits, Justin's talent and professionalism complemented that of John's. In July of 1999, guitarist/singer Jay Campbell joined the fray. Though he was a bit less experienced, his guitar and vocal stylings meshed well with John's dynamic singing and keyboard playing. A recent addition to the band is Bruce Penney on bass. Bruce played with an earlier incarnation of WiRTH and decided he just couldn't get enough, so he returned to the band. The band currently plays in and around the Philadelphia area (with interest in branching out) and will be releasing a new CD in the Winter of 2002. |
