Press Reviews
A review by Crystal Accettulla I am wild about Wild For Kate! WFK has such a great sound;guitar-rich, easy-going, and tastefully understated. I get a sense of the underlying power in this band, but they prefer to hold back a ittle, which works very well w ith their unique style. My introduction to Wild For Kate began with "St. Joe's". This song feels soooo good! I really like the way the guitars fade in at the beginning. Their sing-song quality and mesmerizing rhythm draw me into the song; I am instantly ho oked. Drummer Josh Glidden uses a light touch, careful not to overpower the guitars, played by Kevin Casey and Chris Bryant. The sweet melody of one guitar, supported by the easy rhythm of the other, bring to life this uncomplicated story. It's about a wo man struggling to make a life for herself and her child, and a man who admires her. The more he discovers about her, the more he wants to know her and reveal his true self (which he keeps hidden) to her."10,000 Better Things To Do"? You bet! You preach an d I'll turn the pages!"Ordinary" has great lyrics, giving voice to everyone's secret dream of being strong enough to be his own person. The guitar solos portray the peace that comes with the sweet discovery that this is possible to achieve.I like the edgy feel to "Visiting Elvis", but I think it would be more fitting to use "Jailhouse Rock" in the opening.Who hasn't dreamed of "Big Sex"? Good rhythm and twangy guitars drive home uncontrolled desire after 8+ days of separation.Wild For Kate has blended their many musical influences well. Their guitars harmonize and compliment each other perfectly. The drums and bass know how best to showcase the sweet guitar sounds and unusual vocals. Cool name, cool sound, cool band!˙ôl |
