Artist description
Rich and seamless vocal blend that is rivaled only by rare ‘sibling harmonies,’ Melody and Fae come to their collaboration and their repertoir as though they were born to it. Accompanying themselves with guitar and traditional percussion, the women of SYREN bring a delightful and challenging range of song from Old Scots jigs and reels, to mystical Irish love songs, to passionate ballads of their own composition. Hearing the Syren song is an enchanting experience and a musical must for fans of traditional Celtic music! |

Press Reviews
"Sometimes referred to as the Celtic Jewels, the Ladies of Syren are more than just a sparkling illusion. The ladies are 2 of a kind in harmony. This summer at the James Bay Market, I witnessed the rogue wave of the ladies of Syren and it was riviting! Fae and Melody are wonderful in the ways of 'Puirt a Beul' as well as excellent storytellers. If you have a chance to see these Lasses you are in for a treat!" -- Shannon Gregor, Victoria, BC Canada >>>>><o><<<<< "The Ladies of Syren work wonders together!" -- Nancy Wylie, The Victoria Scottish Cultural Society >>>>><o><<<<< "Syren ~ Enchanting Celtic Magic Tonight, I sat in my studio with the doors open and the cold night desert mountain air drifted in and I heard beauty rising from the speakers like mystical spirits flowing through the air around me. Syren; Fae and Melody, weave their enchanting voices and the spirit of their instruments with the breeze that blew down from the snow covered mountains. It was like finding precious jewels that had washed up by the sea in the path I have walked so long. My Celtic soul was stirred deeply and brought home, home to a time where life was simpler, life was filled with living. Magic is a word that comes to mind as I sit listening to the "Syrens" singing to me across time, bringing with their voices the feeling of the sea, the rolling hills and the highlands and the stone covered paths I walked so long ago. Haunting; that's another word that comes to my mind as I sit here trying to express the feelings that are aroused in me by the mystical voices. Those of you who know me and have read my work know my ideas on the spirit that passes through us from those who came before. Tonight, I am haunted by that spirit as it stirs inside, woke by the wondrous sounds drifting around me like smoke from an ancient fire that lights the night and drives the darkness back. I have heard some fine Celtic music in my life, and these two women are no less than the finest! If you are into Celtic music with a strong traditional feel to it, you are into Syren. Check them out for free listens and downloads of some really wonder-filled songs from some wonder-filled Syrens. And as always, SUPPORT INDIE MUSIC!!!" --Bill Bruedigam, Santa Fe, New Mexico www.thirdroad.com |
