Artist History
MELON was booted during mid 1999 and gained big success on MP3.COM with "Misunderstanding" reaching #3 on the overall TOP40 charts. However, the original idea of MELON was to create funky, deliciously styled house grooves, and I wanted to stick to that. So ClubSkills was created for the trancier clubtunes that were on the MELON page. |

Press Reviews
GOODSTUFF (reviewing e-zine) reviews my song - 'Way I feel': "Flowing by with some nice chilly house sounds this time... Melon comes drifting with groovy beats and enjoyable chords and vocals accompanying the arrangement. Need a tune for your way back from the discotheque? Get this pumping in your stereo!". LISTEN.COM writes - "Stockholm's Melon pump out some delicious funky House for the masses, ranging from the clean, elegant sound of Deep House to the old school light and groovin' Euro-Dance sound to the more upbeat, faster rolls of Progressive House and Trance. Melon's percolating, underlying funk permeates nearly every track, no matter what the genre. The music is understated and patient, without trying to overwhelm the listener with frills and unnecessary gimmicks, thanks to such organic instrumentation as piano and strings and sometimes vocals. Generating glossy production on tight arrangements that rarely disappoint, Melon's music is impressive and addictive." Tim P.Featured artist + DJ's Choice @ www.dmusic.com - Review:Clubskills is the brainchild of Swedish electronic musician Jacob Herbst. The sound can be described asdancefloor oriented trance/dance/house music. I love everything he does, as it all has a clean sound and strong groove. There is a heavy europop influence, everything is based on strong melodic synthwork, and tasteful percussion. In a track like Running he lays down a midtempo groove that is simple but driving due to the way he works the synths. Fans of melodic trance music will really like what Jacob does. He took an older track of his, Be Free and updated the sound to give it a sound more akin to Paul Van Dyk or other progressive trance musicians. One of the things that Jacob is always good at iskeeping the track clean, its tough when you layer about 20 or 30 synths overtop of each other.. but it all comes through and is really well mixed. |
