can't stop saying what you say First time I listened to this I was doing something else on my computer, but I already had the "say what you say" hook playing in my head -- it's catchy! Also appreciate the originality of the arrangement in the verses: guitar and bass doing a spare, strange duet behind the vocal. All the parts are well-performed and the band is definitely tight, and the vocalist has a great rock-band voice, belting out those choruses. The break's really sweet in the drums and bass -- wow. Sort of like musical vertigo...& that's a good thing. "Holy grunge! Someone's spliced Elvis Costello's DNA with Kurt Kobain's!!!!" "...Say what you want...", but this is an incredibly smart, wickedly original entry to the GB-dot-com soundscape. Loved the 'slap-in-the-face, off-balance, deal-with-THIS' intro. Ebb and flow of this track is genius; even though I'm a card-carrying lyric-junkie, I'm on my fourth listen and still just floating along with the surface melody, hooks and mood. The final product here has, at times, an almost raw/edgy punkish sound, but still hangs on to a more alternative foundation. Overall, the feel is a little dark and pained, but hey- that's what love is all about, isn't it? The spartan, '2-dueling-guitars-and simple-drum' line is melodically compelling, and draws focus to some rather bizzare and amusing lyrics, although I couldn't quite make 'em out at key points in the song. For example: "Say what you say what you want me to do/ That's just fine for you...", is just fine for me, too. Clever, interesting turn-of-a-phrase opening lyric is a real attention grabber. Next line began my audio woes, however: "...break (wake?) me until I fall asleep/ Well, I don't care what your momma thinks of me/ She don't know that I'm gonna be a big (horizon?)..." That can't be right; right? (I sure hope you have lyrics posted somewhere, because that's my first stop after I finish this...) Favorite lyric chunk: "...She climbs up a tree just to see me, where I'm at/ Throw me an apple down so I get back..." Almost sounds like a veiled, offbeat, Adam & Eve reference. This whole song was a fun challenge to try and break down into bite-sized reviewable chunks. And I'm happy to say I'm blissfully stumped. I've no clue what the hell you're trying to say here, or if there even IS a coherent storyline. But you know, I don't really care... all I know is this little unbalanced piece of alternative is an instant addiction. Ten plus listens and it still stands tall. Unique and Groovy I love the little guitar sound in the background. Great originality. I like this song a lot....Kicks up nicely into a nice grungy sound. keep up the good work. Toe tapping, Head bobbin' Groovy tune, I dig the intro. Good vibe throughout the song. Nice changes. Very alternative feel. Cool! Great Chorus The chorus of the song is really good. It's really catchy…I think they could take this track somewhere. Nice tune!
