Artist description
The music lineage from which CyrusFx descends is extraordinarily muddled and muttish. While relying entirely/solely on the computer/internet for production, his song crafting technique reminds me of a skiddish juncture between the non-invasive, loop-based polyrhythmicity of trip-hop (a la Massive Attack), and the quirky, blip-stabbing collages of roots electronica (a la Orbital). His influences range from John Cage to Pink Floyd to Miles Davis to Aphex Twin, and back again. While trying to maintain an intra-track, continuous environment of "mood music," CyrusFx leapfrogs across nearly every subgenre of electronic music on all of his albums. Trance, jungle, trip-hop, house and ambience can all be found - stylized with a personal touch of the "avant-garde," possibly in hopes of contributing to what is at the forefront of the natural interlacings of technology and song craftsmanship. Cyrus also is currently delving into DJ-ship, and the endless possibilities of combining vintage vinyl with cutting edge beats to produce highly groovacious audio waves.
Also: currently looking for smooth female vocalist! For drum n bass, trip-hop tracks a-la Porishead, Massive Attack, Everything But the Girl, Nicolette, etc. If you live in the midwest and are interested in being part of a performing electronic duo as lead vocalist, please enquire within!!! |

Artist History
CyrusFx was classically trained on the computer, with lessons from his grandfather starting at age 8. He began using the computer as instrument by programming sound pitches in QBASIC code on an Apple II, and has greatly expanded on the concept since. In 1995, he joined his first band ("Big Techno Fighter") - a guitar-driven industrial techno entourage. BTF recorded just four legendary tracks before dissipating into the whims of fate. CyrusFx has been recording since 1997 and has twor releases: "Mega Universe" (1997), and "Y" (2000). His most current release, entitled "Impermenance," will HOPEFULLY be released by the end of 2002, but the CD reproduction bastards are being bastards, not surprisingly. |
