Artist description
Alto Funk is a three man alternative/funk band based out of Alto, TN. Ky Brazelton is the lead singer/guitarist/songwriter whose rough and graceful style has been compared with Eddie Vedder and Dave Matthews. Tyler Moore is the band leader, bass player, and back-up vocalist/songwriter. His presence onstage gives off immense amounts of energy with a vocal style akin to an old blues singer from the Mississippi Delta, and a funk bass sound that pounds the rhythym. Steve Counts controls the rhythym with his fast-paced jazz/rock percussion. As one of the premier drummers drom the south Steve keeps the heart of the Alto Funk thumping. |

Artist History
Alto Funk played their first show on May 17th, 1999 in Murfreesboro, TN. Ky and Steve had already been playing together for a while before deciding to record an album. Actually years before Steve had played drums on a blues album compiled by Tyler that was recorded to bring all the young musician's from southern Tennessee together. The project included eight different artists and 12 slow blues songs. Tyler created an album called "Ty's Essential Blues Band" when Steve was only 15. That was the last time the collaborated until they joined in the Alto Funk.Ky and Tyler met after both graduated high school and Ky had written many songs that Tyler saw potential in. They soon joined a group called "Midnight Train" with another drummer, Nick Neubauer. This band eventually dissolved when the drummer moved to North Carolina and Tyler moved to Nashville, but from this experience Ky and Tyler had created a musical bond that would eventually lead them back together. Some time passed and Ky met Stevie through their musical interests. Soon Ky and Stevie were playing together and trying to add other musician’s to the group. Every musician they wanted or tried to add never panned out. They wrote many good sounding songs, but every other person they played with seemed to bring a style that contrasted with Ky’s ideas. One day Tyler came to hear them, liked what he heard, and decided to record them in his project studio, Green River Records. Ky and Stevie had others in the band but Tyler told them to come by themselves, and Tyler played all others instruments on the songs. They recorded two songs: *Thoughts In Mind and *Deeper. They liked the sound so they decided to become a three piece, and Alto Funk was born. |
