Artist description
Named after founder Graham Guest's fifth generation grandfather, Moses Guest, this Texas-based, Southern Rock band has just enough Pop, Jazz, Funk, and Country in its veins to appeal to audiences of all ages and origins. Last year they garnered the "Best Rock/Pop Band" award at the 2001 Houston Press Music Awards, and have been concentrating hard on winning over their region, with frequent tours through the South and West. The band has self-produced five CDs to date on its own record label, Aufheben Records. Their latest effort, a highly-anticipated double studio disc set, was recorded at Sugar Hill Studios with Dan Workman (Destiny's Child and ZZ Top), and is scheduled to be released in Summer 2002, to be distributed by Red Eye Distribution. The band will be touring in support of this new release throughout 2002. MG believes that bands that work hard at the grass-roots level can build huge, perpetual fan bases, which provide both artistic and economic stability. Moses Guest comes out sounding ripe for today's demand for melody, integrity, and longevity.
Moses Guest has opened for many great acts in the past few years, including moe. (twice), Col. Bruce Hampton (at HORDE '98), Steve Miller Band, JGB Band (former members of Jerry Garcia Band), Willie Nelson, Los Lobos, Leftover Salmon, String Cheese Incident, David Nelson Band, Rebirth Brass Band, and Lisa Loeb (acoustic). |
