Artist History
Waterside Session was formed in 1998 at WVU in Morgantown WV. Christopher Kasper(NJ),Alex Barone(WV), Mike Barone(WV), and Shane Taylor(WV) were all students at the university when they met. After surviving some line up changes in the early jams, these four came up with thier sound after about a year and a half of interesting shows. Though fairly new on the music scene, W.S. has been fortunate enough to have shared the stage with acts such as Deep Bannana Blackout, Mircle Orchestra, The Recipe, Fat Apple, Foxtrot Zulu, just to name a few. The original sound and impressive musicianship of the band has evoked much interest in the listeners because it is something new and far from cliche. The Morgantown scene has been very supportive of the band since they began playing shows under the name Very Fyne. Thier jam-based style was formed out of the bands obvious love for improv and thier articulate phrasing of melody. In August of 2000, W.S. went into the studio to laydown a collection of 7 songs chosen out of thier vast array of original material. After the band finished recording thier debut CD entitled The Bubble Effect, Shane Taylor(bass) left the band to persue grad school in Hawaii. This move had made it difficult for the band to play relentlessly since they were using "temporary" bass players. Recently they have been playing with a bassist named Curtis Scott from Chicago. His position will most likley be permanent. They are presently recording thier live shows in order to put out another collection of jams. Keep your eyes and ears open for this new, explosive addition to the jazz-rock-jam band scene |
