Artist History
The Hungarian band was formed by drummer László Domján and guitarist Gábor Tomán.They wanted to play melancholic doom/death with violins to create a unique sound.Violinist Ádám Tóth entered in February 1996, while others helped in creating thefirst demo distributed worldwide, called 'The Monument'.Until the summer of 1997 the band was a trio, but then came cellist Adrienn Csigás,guitarist István Takács and synth player Zsolt Nagy. Gábor Tóth became bassist, andTamás Gergely took the vocals. This lineup recorded the second demo, called 'Hymn...for the Deepest Autumn'. The stuff gained many excellent reviews in Hungary and worldwide. In 1999 the group was third of 55 bands at a large rock festival in Hungary. The newest stuff,'Down on My Knees' EP therefore has been recorded at one of the best rock studio. Before therecordings there were some changes in the lineup, Réka Szappanos synth player and BalázsSzendőfi bassist strengthened the band. The debut EP contains eight tracks in 30 mins. Our style mixes classical music partswith doomy metal riffs. The band plays gothic music with an unfamiliar lineup. Itenables many progressive elements and changing sounds. Grunts used on 'Hymn... for theDeepest Autumn' has been replaced with clean vocals. Lyrics written by vocalist TamásGergely are about human relationships, the nature, and disappearance. In recent years The AoD made many gigs in Hungary, and became one of the best gothic doom acts here. The Hungarian Metal Hammer and Hammer Records helps the group in distribution and in producing. |
