Artist History
Reckless Abandon (Matthew 16:24) was formed in late 1991 by a group of college friends at East Texas State University. What began as a fleeting conversation between two new roommates, rather quickly became a ministry. They always preferred to be called a ministry rather than a band, because the music was always secondary. As their passions and their musical skills grew, Reckless Abandon began "gigging" on a regular basis in the Northeast Texas area. As always happens with both bands and college friends, time and life itself rearranged the membership of the group as some left to pursue careers, build families, etc. And eventually, the continuance of the ministry itself was no longer feasible. The group officially disbanded in 1996. Many of the individual members are still active in ministry as well as music. The music presented here on this web site is from an album entitled "Say It Loud!", produced over several months in 1992 and 1993 in and around the Commerce area using whatever equipment was available and whatever venue presented itself, from a church sanctuary to a dining room table. In 1999, these songs were digitally re-mastered and compiled, along with original artwork and photography, into a CD, and recently that CD has been transformed into the web site you see before you. It is hoped that God will continue the anointed ministry he began almost a decade ago through these songs and with this web site. May His name be glorified on a global scale through the heart-felt efforts of a humble group of ministers. |
