Artist History
The early days of the year 2000 witnessed the formation of the Vancouver band Echophone. Emerging from various local acts, the band quickly fused and created a repertoire of atmospheric and dynamic movements that captivate and entice. Mellow…but not mellow. The songs reflect the diversity, powerful songwriting and musicality of the band. With the advent of this material Echophone quickly cultivated an alluring live show that resonates with simmering intensity.
Echophone is currently involved in the recording and production of their debut album tentatively titled ‘Myopia’ to be released in the summer of 2002 and has recruited the talents of Larry Anschell. Larry is recognized as a leading engineer and producer with credits that include Sarah McLachlan, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nickelback, Blue Rodeo, The Watchmen and numerous independent bands.
Inspiration has come from a variety of influences ranging from but not limited to The Beatles, Pink Floyd, R.E.M., and U2 as well as contemporary acts such as Bjork, Massive Attack, Sigur Ros, Radiohead and The Dave Matthews Band.
