Artist History
Duel 77 traces its roots back to Qwirk, which existed in
1998.Logan founded Qwirk with Doug.Qwirk consisted
of Logan on guitar, Kevin on bass, Adam on vocals and
Doug on drums. Then two years later Logan and Doug
formed Down for the Count(a cover band) with Eric on
bass and Kaveh on vocals. Over the summer Chris
joined on Guitar. But at the end of the summer Doug
had to leave for college, and thus Down for the Count
was literally down for the count. Then Logan and Chris
wrote some new songs for a new band that included
Eric and Kaveh and the lunch lady on drums to replace
Doug. That very band is Duel 77.
Duel 77 has gone on
to play many shows and many venues across many l
ands. Their prestige graced many a teenage pop
punker and changed their lives forever. Duel 77
experienced much hijinks when Chris did a brief but
memorable stint in Military school in Montana. Duel
franticly searched for a replacment guitarists. Much
like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duel was unable to
recapture the magic that was brought about when they
were graced with Chris' presence. Nado stood in until
Chris triumpantly returned in the summer of 2001. This
was a tough time for the band, which was going through
the next phase in all of their lives. Chris was brainwashed
by the Military school which he attended and ended up
enlisting in the Navy, and had precious few weeks
before he would depart. Logan was at UCLA studying
econ and debating his descision of going on his
mission. Kaveh went to Art school, and grew out a Fro.
Eric went to an intensive training in the Culinary School
in SF and the Lunch Lady was still in High School. All the
lost souls that made Duel 77 met up again on the eve of
New Years 2002, and played their last show at a party at
the house of Kevin, of Live Long Day. Sparks flew, and old
flames rekindled, as Duel 77 played the night away. In no
more than 6 months time, Chris went off to boot camp, Logan
went on his mission to Brazil, Eric was accepted to Humbolt,
and the Lunch Lady mysteriously disappeared. He was
found in the fall of 02 in a van down by the river. Mystery Meat
was the cause of death. Kaveh was the only memeber left who
frequented Lafayette. He continues to attend Art School and
Jams on Duel songs every now and then and remebers
a time was life was simple and about 1 thing: jammin with Duel.
The legacy of Duel 77 lives on in to this day throughout
Contra costa county, in the hearts of all the kids that saw
Duel in their Heyday, and more importantly, in the band
room. To this day the public was unaware that a second
EP was recorded, but never released, in the summer of 2001
This EP contained all new material and displayed the influence
of Funk and the first song writing efforts of Kaveh. It was a
fun EP and could have made them big, unfortunately, Fate
did not allow this. Duel 77 never officially broke up, so
keep your ear to the grape vine, in case of a reunion show
until then, DO THE DUEL!!!! Love Kaveh in 2003
