SONG PARODIST WANTS TO BREAK `WEIRD AL MONOPOLY'NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Weird Al Yankovic's monopoly ofthe song parody market could be in the past if a 29-year-old computer programmer has his way. By day, David Tiberio programs computers, but at night,he works nonstop at his lifetime goal: Pushing Weird Al off his perch as the Bill Gates of pop music parodies. Tiberio currently has 30 tunes in his repertoireincluding, "We Didn't Start The Lawsuit," which yuks up the Microsoft antitrust case to the tune of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire." The wannabe Weird Al thinks there's room enough at the top for more than one wacky song spoofer. In fact, Tiberio says he'll throw Weird Al a bone by "...never writing songs about food," like Yankovic's hit "Eat It." |
