Artist description Daniel Okonta a.k.a. C. Leon, 18, grew up in the area of Dufferin & Lawrence, also known as Jungle, a large area of Government housing homes in Toronto, Canada. This is where he took his love for music and desire to be heard to another level. "I think hip hop is a great way for me to express myself,” says C. Leon on what hip hop means to him. C. Leon is an MC who is constantly looking for feedback, experimenting with different ways of gaining fans all around the world. His inspiration he shares with many other Canadian Hip Hop artists, seeing many MCs come out of Toronto and not gain any kind of international success. C. Leon is determined to be heard, and is focused on bringing Toronto Hip Hop to an international stage. C. Leon is not your "average young hip hop head". His music is who he is; he pulls you into his life with every song. When it comes time to sit down and write or get in the booth and record a song, C. takes on the task as a job, not just a hobby. Musical influences include: The late Notorious B.I.G., Audio Two, Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, Mobb Deep and Redman. C. Leon is a creative artist that is constantly looking for musical mediums to create a new breed of hip hop, C. Leon speaks on various topics such as his childhood, relationships, street life, religion and the occasional beat an emcee down track.
