Artist History
The argentine guitarist Pablo Marfil (born 1970) began playing the guitar at the age of eight and gave his first public performance eight years later.
He started taking lessons with Héctor Farías in 1984. From 1988 to 1995 studied at the Official Conservatory of Bahia Blanca and seven years later graduated as Advanced Guitar Professor.
He also attended several courses and masterclasses with well-known teachers as Miguel Ángel Girollet, Horacio Ceballos, Enrique Cippolla, Eduardo Isaacs, Walter Heinze, Eduardo Frasón, Igor Herzog, María Isabel Siewers, Víctor Villadangos and lately with Eduardo Fernández.
He has performed as solo, duet and in quartet formations in Bahia Blanca (also for radio and TV) and other cities of Buenos Aires and Entre Ríos provinces.
In 1995 he founded a guitar and flute duet with Adriana Fernández (soloist on the Bahia Blanca Symphonic Orchestra). In 1998 he created together with Hernán Mouro, Sergio Natali and Daniel Ducos the guitar quartet "Seis por cuatro" ("Six by four"). In 1999 he came to the finals on the 3rd Guitar Competition "Pomponio Martínez Zárate".
His repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to contemporary music, including transcriptions and arrangements of latinoamerican music. In 2001, he played as a world première "Los enredos de Silvia", a piece for solo guitar by the uruguayan composer Leo Masliah.
He is presently a Teacher of Guitar and Harmonic Instrument at the Official Conservatory of his city and leads the SEISCUERDAS.COM project, a latinoamerican guitar web portal. |
