    Artist description
This five-headed lovechild was raised in the tide flats of Tacoma, Wash., from a mixture of swampy blues, rockabilly, funk, country and R&B. They (it?) call their unique brand of music "Swampabilly Blues" and were voted "Best NW Band" by the members of the Washington Blues Society in 2000. The greasy, groovin' nuts & bolts roots of Junkyard Jane combine with the factor of fun to make the band's live performance "must see" musical gumbo!*** "Best Band" - 2000 Washington Blues Society B.B. Awards *** "Best NW Recording - Milkin' the Frog" - 2000 WBS B.B. Awards *** "Best New Band" - 1999 WBS B.B. Awards *** "Blues Man of the Year (Billy Stoops)" - 2000 Tacoma Summy Awards *** "Blues Woman of the Year (Leanne Trevalyan)" - 2000 Tacoma Summy Awards *** "Entertainer of the Year (Billy Stoops)" - 2000 WBS B.B. Awards *** "Best Male Vocalist (Billy Stoops)" - 1995 WBS B.B. Awards *** "Best Bass (Barbra Blue)" - 2001 WBS B.B. Awards ***

    Artist History
This five-headed love child named JUNKYARD JANE rose by night in the tide flats of Tacoma, Washington, from a deadly mephitic brew of blues, swamp gas, rockabilly, old engine parts, country, motor oil, funk, folk and used kitty litter. Like all true originals, they display a creole blend of influences that they affectionately call "Swampabilly Blues." Voted Washington's "Best Band" at the 2000 B.B. Awards, JUNKYARD JANE was one of only 8 groups from a pool of hundreds to make the final round at the 2001 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn. Although the band has had much of their success in the blues community, purists beware - this musical gumbo will have even the most adventuresome listener hankerin' for more. JUNKYARD JANE's latest release (their fourth), Ductape & Sagebrush, is an all-acoustic journey into Americana territory. They served up a steamin' plate of corn fed, swingin', jug band blues with their third release Swampabilly Snake Oil Freakshow. JJ's sophomore effort, Milkin' the Frog, was voted "Best NW Recording" by the Washington Blues Society and features all original music as does the debut CD Washboard Highway, which was named one of the top 10 NW recordings by KPLU radio. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leanne Trevalyan, the Tacoma Summy Award recipient for "Blueswoman of the Year 2000," entices audiences with her smooth and sultry vocal stylings, sweet guitar pickin' and nasty washboard scratchin'. Lea's occasional kazoo solo and slide whistle wailing add a touch of whimsy to the big show. Billy Stoops, the 2000 B.B. winner for "Entertainer of the Year" and Freakshow Ringmaster, delights and amuses audiences with his rich, soulful voice and onstage antics. Billy's distinctive guitar style and his groove-oriented songwriting garnered him the Summy Award for "Bluesman of the Year 2000." With his honkin' tenor sax, ferocious harmonica and cool dude vocals, the multi-talented Jim King is a three-ring circus in and of himself! Throw in a heapin' helpin' of quick wit and you've got the makings of a real Swampabilly King! And finally, the "red beans and rice" rhythm section of award-winning bassist Barbra Blue (love that big bottom end!) and steady thumpin' drummer Tom Sunderland, keeps poundin' down the groove so your butts can move!
