Artist description
Entelechy. (en-TEL-eh-kee) A name which dates back thousands of years to it's greek origin which literally means "to have in completion." Aristotle uses the term to describe the soul: the soul is the first entelechy of a naturally organized body having life potentially. In line with his teaching that all material things are composed of form and matter, he sees the soul as the form of the body. Thus the soul as form refers to the organization of matter that brings about its state of fulfillment as a living body. Entelechy is a jazz group from Chicago combining acid jazz/hip hop grooves, straight ahead club jazz, outrageous avant-garde experiments, and high octane fusion to create a sound all their own. Known for outrageous live behavior, Entelechy shows range from the average, laid back jazz show to, well, you'd have to see it. |

Artist History
"Entelechy" formed by Brian Peters under a different name in 1997. Over the course of the last few years, various additional players accompanied Brian in trips to the Slotcar Emporium. He changed the name to "Entelechy" because he originally wanted a word that meant "Plethora of Worms," but unfortunately, he copied it incorrectly from the Spanish-Finnish Dictionary. Entelechy set out to create a new hybridized form of progressive rock music, utilizing medical influences from the previous 30 years. Jim B. took over the drumming duties for the band in August of 2000 after their Bass Clarinetist left to pursue a career in Macro-Entomology. A complete listing of all the other members who have passed is circulating somewhere around the internet, check to see if you are on it. Because of a small, unfortunate encounter with a senior citizen and a bucket of fried chicken at a rock festival, the court has issued a restraining order against Entelechy, which states that all current members must stay at least 3 genres away from progressive rock at all times. To avoid any further confrontation with the law and the United Socialist Republican Investor's Financial Aid to Musicians committee, Entelechy has chosen to no longer reside under a genre, instead, we choose to call our work, "music." |

Group Members
A list could be compiled of the alleged current members of the group, but it would be useless. For every month after February 2001, Entelechy will have gone through approximately 1.9 members. For legal purposes we are required to list all members who have been actively playing live or recording in the recent past...
