Artist History
Voting Member of: The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS). American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). National Music Publishers Association/The Harry Fox Agency (NMPA/HFA). b. August 19, 1962. Springfield Gardens, NY. Influenced by musical parents he found drumming to be his primary instrument at the age of three. Simultaneously maintaining his extraordinary talent for art as well as music he expanded quickly with both art forms learning to play a multitude of instruments. In 1976 he attended the gifted LaGuardia High School of Music & Art in upper Manhattan. There he indulged heavily in the arts and developed his passion for jazz music to the likes of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter, Return To Forever and The Mahavishnu Orchestra. Despite being an art student he would take every opportunity to sit-in with the jazz band and grow to idolize the styles of drummers Elvin Jones, Billy Cobham, Tony Williams, Lenny White, Omar Hakim, Kenny Washington and Narada Michael Walden amongst others. Also during this time the musical movie drama “Fame” was shot and produced showcasing the caliber of talented students from both the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the High School of Performing Arts in a rare collaboration. After graduating in 1980 he elected to pursue his artistic roots into the field of Architecture where he studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Yet his love for one art form did not diminish the other. During his college years he established various bands which performed Top 40 gigs at clubs throughout New York and Long Island during the early 80’s. Following college in 1985 he established a recording studio in his Brooklyn brownstone apartment where he produced artist demos and further refined his composing and engineering skills. With that initial success he relocated his studio to Rockefeller Center midtown Manhattan in 1990 where he further expanded his production and publishing business and caliber of talent. After a streak of Jazz, Pop and R&B projects with aspiring popular artists he turned to building his catalog of songs which among others included co-producing two Grammy, Dove and Stellar award nominated albums for the phenomenal vocalist Yolanda Adams (Go Yo!). He is now heavily involved and focused on composing a wide spectrum of music for filmscore and commercial work as well as his own personal compilation of Jazz and R&B discographies. |
