Artist History
As one of the premiere bands in the Christian rock scene and an ever presentforce at radio and retail, Xalt has reached listeners all over the world with itsmusic and message. The band formed in 1987 and shortly after released theindependent EP "Dark War", which to this date has been one of the best sellingindependent rock releases ever. Because of the success of "Dark War" andwinning the new band competition at Cornerstone '89, the band caught the eyeof Refuge Records, who quickly signed them. On Refuge the band released thealbum "Under The Ruins", which produced the hit singles "Piercing the Darkness"and "Lost Without You". The album also spurned a successful tour with the bandWhitecross and took Xalt all over the world. One highlight of the tour was a trip toGuatemala and El Salvador where the band performed for more than 15,000people and saw over 1,000 decisions for Christ. The concert in El Salvadormarked the first appearance by an American band in that country's history. In 1991 the band moved to the StarSong label and released the album "History".The album was brought together by hit producers Tony Miceli and Paul Orafinoand featured the hit singles "Standing" (included on the "Metal Mission" videoStarSong 1991), "Walk Away", and "Unconditional Love". "Unconditional Love"broke new ground for the band by reaching #18 on the CCM pop charts. Thisalbum was also supported by a successful tour that saw the return of Xalt to itsgracious fans in Central America and the country of El Salvador. Xalt was also apart of the "Metal Mission" Tour which teamed them up with the bands Bride,Whitecross, and Novella. For the past three years the band has stepped back from the scene and hasreached down deep to find a new musical identity that would be relevant today. The result? "Helium Blue Gazebo". This new album released in May 1997 is theband's most personal and real material to date. This melody driven collectionreveals the heart of a truly sincere group of musicians. The radio singles "TheRiver" and "Security" both did very well at radio stations worldwide. Come take aride |
