Artist History
Jason and I started this band back in '96 the summer after our freshman year in high school. At the time we were only 15 years old so it was difficult to find time to play, money for equipment and transportation to shows but we always got by. During this time we were a secular band and played with other San Diego bands such as Built to Last, The Setup, Endure, and many others who have come and gone. Rubio played guitar for us from almost the very beginning. We were young and we didn't know too much about music (those who saw us then can attest to that) but we did love to play, and we were fortunate enough to play with bands like 25talife, Powerhouse, Hatebreed, Ensign among others. In '98 we made the best decision we've ever made as a band. We made the step from the secular scene to the Christian scene. This was a difficult step at the time because we knew the way the secular scene felt about the Christian scene in San Diego, and we knew that this decision could possibly exclude us from playing secular shows in San Diego. But we knew this was the right choice because God had put it on mine and Jason's hearts that he wanted us to do things His way and not ours any longer. Over the next few months we released a split 7 inch on Facedown Records with Persevere. During this time we had some people leave the band for personal reasons, Ruben moved away to North Dakota to live with relatives, our bass player Dan-o decided he wasn't into the music any longer so it was just Jason and me again. God blessed us with two guys that would fill the void and also help to grow spiritually, Tommy and Roger (Noise Ratchet.) We played with this lineup for a little over a year. As things progressed we began growing apart, and we couldn't keep that lineup together. Roger left to play in Noise Ratchet and the rest of us couldn't get along if our lives depended on it. Jason and I decided the only way we would play again was if Ruben moved back to San Diego and played for us again or if Roger did. God hooked us up once again, Ruben moved back and Tommy moved to bass and we began playing again. A few months after we got back together we decided we should get a second guitarist. It's hard to count or even remember all the times God has blessed us, although we never deserved any blessing he still had plans for us. So He filled the void and Brandon began playing guitar for us, we had grown up with him and he was into the music so he was a good fit. Soon after he began playing with us he accepted Christ as his Savior. We decided we wanted to leave the past behind us and start anew. We changed our name to The Frontline and here we are now. As a band we have grown closer than we've ever been, and that is all thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without him we are nothing and through the years we showed that to be true. We consider ourselves a ministry band and our purpose is to win souls for Christ. We hope along the way we can help other Christians in their walk, and to help everyone to realize we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. |
